The basic concept of the architects consisted of a structural core made of stacked, technically modified containers, surrounded by a steel substructure with a superimposed panel shell. The details of the development and the construction were centred on the extreme weather conditions in the Antarctic, with the highest thermal and mechanical stresses for the building enveloppe.
The glass façade of the complex consists of a modified stick structure and triple-glazing insulation with a 15-degree inclination on the north and south sides.
The main focus for the container windows and doors as well as the entrance areas to living spaces (lounge,
laboratories) was the subject of fire protection.
The Bharati Research Station amply demonstrates how even under the most extreme conditions, through close
interaction of all construction participants, architectural ideas can become reality. The combination of serial
products, specifically modified applications and individually tested fire-protection structures illustrates the flexibility and individuality of WICONA's technological solutions for exceptional ideas.

Facade systems 50
• Filigree look without any change in appearance to the inner mullion and transom gaskets

• Individual design thanks to a wide range of profile geometries for the structural and glazing profiles
• Uf for standard version up to 1.2W/m²K
• infill thickness 3 - 51mm
• Reliable glass load transmission (up to 4 kN), with adapted transom-joint technology
• Overlapping and secure drainage at the cross point, without mechanical mullion processing, ensures tried-and-tested impermeability
• Broad selection of profiles enables economic adaptation to structural requirements, with the additional option of internal reinforcement
• Glazing from outside featuring single- and/or two-part pressure and cover profiles
• Design options with concealed or visible screw fixture
• Extensive solutions for structure junctions and conservatories
• transom-transom facade based on WICTEC 50
• transom and mullion have same geometrie thus economic 90° cut possible
• drainage principle via additonal horizontal profile

• Aluminium window system profile depth of 77mm
• Optimised thermal insulation, Uf values up to 1.5 W/m²K and Uw values up to 1.0 W/m2K
