For the third time, the international conference “Fassade 2014” will take place in Switzerland this year, organised by the Competence Center Facade and Metal Engineering of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Art and the University Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Detmold (D) in cooperation with the Schweizerische Zentrale für Fenster und Fassade (SZFF). Internationally renowned engineers and architects will introduce newest trends, developments and technologies related to the building envelope.
This year’s event, themed “Adaptive Building Envelopes” is dedicated to a still relatively new technology. Adaptive or dynamic facades can optimally adapt properties such as insulation behaviour, light transmission, energy transmission etc. to ever varying climatic surrounding conditions and user demands. Compared to conventional facade systems, this technology can contribute significantly to optimising the energy efficiency of modern buildings.
The conference is conducted within the framework of the European Facade Network (EFN) and the European research project COST TU1403 „Adaptive Facades Network“. EFN is an interest group and competency network of several universities with the aim to advance education and research in the field of the building envelope in Europe.
The activity COST TU1403 „Adaptive Facades Network“ is a European research project, initiated and lead by the Competence Center Facade and Metal Engineering of the Lucerne University related to adaptive and dynamic facades. Scientists, engineers, architects and industry partners from more than 20 countries participate in the programme.
