The New Hospital of Braga, Portugal, located at the evergreen mild slopes of hills that surround the city of Braga, this new hospital serves a population over 1.2 million , and accommodates over 700 beds for medical internship.

The different types of services offered (Internship, Surgery, Emergency Units , Consultation) requested a versatile building distributed through linked building blocks that occupy construction area of 140.000 m2.

The building façade is composed of diversified solutions including curtain walling and casement systems integrated into the concrete walls.

The inner façades and roof solutions to link the building blocks explore the effect of natural light through an extensive glazed surface that enriches the building with a modern look.




Used facade product in this project

To take the most benefit of natural light and allowing good thermal and acoustic isolation the building has applied the Elegance 52 ST curtain walling system from Sapa. 

The system offers a wide variety of solutions that include, inter alia, structural glazing, vertical and horizontal line, fire resistant, bomb blast, BIPV.

The three level drainage principle provides excellent water tightness and construction flexibility to cope with different building options like insertion of opening vents.
