Office Building UPC, Leeuwarden, Netherlands

Two departments that are currently located in different areas of the city of Leeuwarden will be combined in one new office building. UPC wants to offer its staff a qualitatively better work place, but it also has the advantage of being able to share provisions and expand the synergy between the two departments. The new location will be easier to reach by car and public transport. The Harlingertrekvaart location offers space and a good view. A park environment will eventually be formed by way of a planned green area at the north side of the building.

Office Building UPC, Leeuwarden, Netherlands

The façade is made of standard curtain walling systems Schüco FW50+. The daylight, view and transparency makes the building very comfortable for working, but also it prevents the risk of overheating. The glazing facades over the whole elevation are brought to the inside and through this a natural shadow is occurred. The blind facades are mounted with aluminium panels. All this leads to a very good thermal insulation together with the high thermal insulated glazing. Architect Paul de Ruiter, with his office in Amsterdam has a reputation on sustainable design and this building has also a strong character and good recognition.

The whole engineering, assembling and mounting is done by Schüco partner Alraf, ter Apel, Netherlands
